Correct Answer: the trip is 24 hours long

Explanation:

Let, his additional hour of travel time = x hour

He travels 60x miles (in additional hour)

He travels first 6 hour = 40 x 6 = 240 miles

According to the question, $\frac{240+60x}{6+x}$= 55

=> 240 + 60x = 330 + 55x

=> 5x = 90

so, x = 18

The trip is (18 + 6) = 24 hours long.
