Problem: The distance between X and Y is 45 miles. One hour after Yasmin started walking from X to Y, Babul started walking along the same road from Y to X. If Yasmin’s walking rate was 3 miles per hour and Babuls was 4 miles per hour, how many miles had Babul walked when they met?

Correct Answer: 24 miles

Explanation:

Total distance = 45 miles.

According to the question,

Yasmin walked 3 miles more.

So both have to walk = 45 — 3 = 42 miles.

Both walked = 3 + 4 = 7 miles in one hour.

So, 7 miles take = 1 hour

42 miles take =$\frac{1×42}{7}$ = 6 hour

Babul walked = 6 x 4 = 24 miles, when they met.
