Problem: In an MBA class the ratio of number of commerce graduates to the number of science graduates is 2 to 5. If 2 more commerce graduates enter the class the ratio becomes 1 to 2. How many commerce graduates are in the class?

Explanation:

Let, commerce graduates and science graduates is 2x and 5x respectively

According to the question, $\frac{2x+2}{5x}=\frac{1}{2}$x = 4.

Commerce graduates will be = 2x=2×4= 8.
