Problem: 2 men and 3 boys can do a piece of work in 10 days while 3 men and 2 boys can do the same work in 8 days. In how many days can 2 men and 1 boy do the work?

Correct Answer: 12.5 days.

Explanation:

(2 men + 3 boys)’s 10 days work = (3 men + 2 boys)‘: 8 days works.

(20 men + 30 boys)’s 1 day work = (24 men + 16 boys)’s 1 day work.

=>4 men = 14 boys

=>1 men =$\frac{14}{4}$ boys

=>2 men =$\frac{14}{4}$x 2 boys = 7 boys.

=> 2 men + 3 boys = 7 boys + 3 boys = 10 boys

and 2men+ l boy= 7 boys +1boy= 8 boys

10 boys can do the work in = 10 days

8 boys can do the work in =$\frac{10×10}{8}$= 12.5 days.
