Problem: The price of a kg of ordinary rice is  $\frac{1}{3}$ the price of a kg of Basmati rice. When a shop sold all its rice, the total receipts from 450 kg of ordinary rice and 600 kg of Basmati rice was Tk. 45,000 (Forty-five thousand). What is the price per kg of each kind of rice?

Correct Answer: Basmati Tk. 60 per kg. an ordinary Tk. 20 per kg.

Explanation:

Let, the price of 1 kg Basmati rice = x

The price of 1 kg ordinary rice = X x $\frac{1}{3}$=$\frac{x}{3}$

The price of 1 kg Basmati rice = Tk. x

The price of 600 kg Basmati rice =Tk. 600x

Again, the price of 1 kg ordinary rice = Tk.$\frac{x}{3}$

The price’ of 450 kg ordinary rice = Tk. ($\frac{1}{3}$ x 450)= Tk. 150x

According to the question,

=> 600x + 150x = 45000

=> 750x = 45000

So, x= 60

So the price of Basmati rice is T k. x = Tk 60 per kgThe price of ordinary rice = Tk. $\frac{x}{3}$= Tk. $\frac{60}{3}$= Tk. 20 per kg

Basmati Tk. 60 per kg. an ordinary Tk. 20 per kg.
