Problem: A shopkeeper who sells, on an average, 18 pencils and 12 markers per day. The profit from a pencil is $\frac{1}{3}$ times the profit made by selling a marker. If he makes a profit of Tk. 900 in a month (a month consists of 30 days) by selling pencils, how much profit does make per month by selling markers?

Correct Answer: TK 1800

Explanation:

Let profit from each marker be = 1 Tk

Let profit from each pencil be =$\frac{1}{3}$ Tk

So, Profit from 12 market = 12 x 1 = 12 Tk

Profit from 18 pencil = 18 x $\frac{1}{3}$ = 6 Tk

Ratio of profit of marker & pencil = 12 : 6 = 2 : 1Profit from pen per month = (900 x 2) = 1,800 Tk
