Problem: Average mark obtained by 100 students in a class is 85. When 10% of the students are excluded from the group, the average mark of remaining students is 90. Find average mark of the 10% of students excluded for the group.

Correct Answer: 40 marksQ

Explanation:

Total marks of 100 students = 100 x 85 = 8500

The rest of students after 10% excluded = 90

So, the total marks of 90 students = 90 x 90 = 8100

Now, the total marks of 90 studcnts = 100 — 90 = 10

The total marks of excluded students = 8500 – 8100 = 400

So, the average mark of 10% excluded students = 400 + 10 = 40 marks.
