Problem: When sugar price was raised by 25%, a person cut down sugar consumption in such away that his expenditure on sugar was unchanged. By what percentage the personreduced sugar consumption?

Explanation:

At 25% raised price.

When present price = Tk (100 + 25)

=>Tk. 125 then past price = Tk. 100

When present price Tk 100 then past price=$\frac{100\times 100}{125}$= Tk.80

The person reduced sugar consumption = (100 — 80)=20%
